The Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God written. They are the complete revelation of God’s will for humankind and the divine rule of Christian faith and life. In all that they affirm the Scriptures are infallible and entirely trustworthy and authoritative. They are given by inspiration of the Holy Spirit, who also bears testimony to their authority. The Holy Spirit illuminates the mind of the believer to understand their message, and so empowers the preaching and teaching of Holy Scripture that God is heard and Christ is glorified.
There is only one God, who is infinitely perfect, the creator, preserver and governor of all things.
God exists in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and he alone is the one whom we are to worship.
In the person of Jesus Christ the divine and human natures are united so that he is truly God and truly man.
Jesus Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless human life, and suffered and died for our salvation. He rose from the dead and ascended to Heaven, where he is now our high priest and advocate.
Our first parents were created in a state of innocency but by their disobedience lost their purity and happiness. In consequence of their fall, all of the human race is corrupted by sin and in need of salvation.
Salvation is by grace alone, received solely by faith and not by human merit, and experienced only in Christ.
Repentance towards God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ are necessary to salvation.
Those who turn to Christ in true repentance and faith are born anew by the Holy Spirit, adopted as children of God, sanctified and indwelt by the Spirit, kept by the power of God, and given the gift of eternal life.
The indwelling Holy Spirit enables the Christian to grow in the grace and knowledge of God, and to live a life of effective service to God’s glory.
The one true Church is that worldwide company of believers who confess Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord.
The Church of Jesus Christ is commissioned by its Lord to proclaim the gospel to every person and to make disciples of all nations.
Jesus Christ will one day come again in power and great glory to judge the living and the dead. Those who have rejected him will be banished from his presence, and those who have been saved by grace will enter into the eternal presence of God in that place that Christ has prepared for them.
This Doctrinal Statement is signed by all members of the College’s Board of Directors and Faculty.
The College’s Courses are open to all Christians, and students of the College are not required to accept or sign this Statement. However, they should be aware that this is the perspective which is reflected in the College’s teaching.
